Nearly 120 exchanges and central counterparty clearing houses in 98 countries will 'Ring the Bell for Gender Equality’ in 2022
A record of 119 exchanges and central counterparty clearing houses (CCPs) around the world will support the eighth annual 'Ring the Bell for Gender Equality' campaign, to raise awareness about the role and opportunities for the private sector to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace, marketplace and community.
For the eighth consecutive year, markets in 98 countries are planning to ring opening or closing bells to celebrate International Women’s Day 2022 – starting on 4 March and continuing until the end of the month of March. See short video here.
UN Women is co-hosting 52 of these events with our Ring the Bell partners IFC, Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) initiative, UN Global Compact and The World Federation of Exchanges.
Exchanges that have participated in the past seven years of ringing the bell for gender equality have made progress by:
-
Signing and adopting the Women’s Empowerment Principles. We are proud that 30 exchanges are already WEPs signatories and we welcome new ones every week.
-
Promoting gender equality listing criteria and gender data disclosure.
-
Developing new products, such as sustainability-linked bonds with gender criteria and gender bonds.
-
Promoting women’s access to finance and encouraging women to invest in public markets.
We invite you to explore:
-
How to use sustainable bonds to credibly access financing for projects and strategies that advance gender equality objectives and achieve lasting impact here.
-
