Since its inception in 2021 Tamkeen for Sustainable Tourism Development Company (TASUD) has adopted and integrated in its polices and strategies the principles and guidelines of the UNWTO Global Code of Ethics for Tourism (GCET) to lead its goals to achieve responsible, inclusive and competitive sector in Jordan. The Code was endorsed by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly as an instrumental tool for “promoting and developing tourism with a view to contributing to economic development, international understanding, peace, prosperity and universal respect for, and observance of, human rights and fundamental freedoms for all without distinction as to race, sex, language or religion”. The Code of Ethics for Tourism promote an equitable, responsible and sustainable world tourism order, whose benefits will be shared by all sectors of society in the context of an open and liberalized international economy. Women inclusiveness and empowerment in tourism are key requirements to achieve sustainability contributing to the advancement of the UN SDGs agenda: 2030. By signing the commitment to the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) we believe that TASUD can further advance the gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace, marketplace and community at tourism sector focusing on increase women engagement in tourism economic activities especially in rural areas contributing to the well being of our society in Jordan.
