CEO
The purpose of Fitch Consulting is Changing Organizations for Good - helping organizations become people centered, purpose driven and change inspired. Diversity and inclusion lies at the heart of Changing Organizations for Good, because this demands that we provide all employees with respectful, inclusive, psychologically safe, economically rewarding and motivating environments in which they can be and become their best selves. At Fitch, we must lead by example, knowing that simply increasing diversity numbers is only one small part of the equation – the ability to sustain a meaningful impact to support diverse and gender-balanced groups is the key factor. It is not enough to simply increase the number of female-identifying individuals to attain sustainable gender balance. Their perspectives, their backgrounds, their life experiences and challenges are valuable to decision making and stakeholder impact. We posit that the core mistake other organizations make is the assumption of assimilation: the assumption that they can simply open the door and people of all sorts of backgrounds will meld together into the organization’s existing ways of doing things. This almost never creates real change. To create real change, organizations must challenge the status quo of their own assumptions and culture, increase risk thresholds to embrace new mindsets, and create generative environments in which employees can grow and thrive. By fostering the environmental conditions in which a gender-balanced workplace of women and men of diverse backgrounds can grow, thrive, and feel supported, organizations of all shapes and sizes can make a meaningful impact beyond their day to day work. As part of our commitment to this journey, we are proud to join and support the Women's Empowerment Principles network.
